As part of The Hub, ACD Tas facilitates MyTime groups in Tasmania as part of the national program coordinated by the Parenting Research Centre, and funded by theĀ Australian Government Department of Social Services. The MyTime groups enable parents and carers to talk and catch up with each other, in a relaxed atmosphere.Ā We understand the demands and rewards of caring for a child with a disability or chronic medical condition. Facilitators work with group members, helping them get to know each other and learn more about the services and supports in their area. Members choose what they would like to discuss in their groups, with help from the facilitator. The facilitator might guide group activities or provide resources depending on what the group wants to do. Play helpers keep children, including preschool siblings, busy and active in activities such as singing, drawing, and playing with toys, blocks or sand so members can spend time catching up with one another. Play helpers have skills in leading childrenās play activities. However, they may not be qualified childcare workers. You can join your usual MyTime or alternative groups if the time/day suits you. ACD Tas MyTime groups are held in New Town, Hobart, Howrah, Ulverstone, and Devonport View our current school term schedule (below) or check out the ACD Tas Events & MyTime Calendar. ![]() You can also have a look at the MyTime National Website |
